Symptoms of Depression


People with depression feel some or all of the following symptoms all day, nearly every day for two weeks or more:

• A persistent feeling of sadness
• Loss of interest in things that once brought enjoyment
• Feeling hopeless or worthless
• Feeling tired all of the time
• Inability to sleep or sleeping too much
• Loss of energy
• Loss of motivation
• Loss of appetite and weight loss
• Increased appetite and weight gain
• Trouble thinking, concentrating, and making decisions
• Restlessness and irritability
• Thoughts of death and suicide
