Joan's Story - How I Got Moving

"Back when I was in high school, I twirled a baton in our marching band. It's been a long time since I've been that fit; half a century, in fact. I did enjoy pushing the baby carriage around the block when my kids were little, but one thing led to another and I never got back into a regular exercise program.

When I moved to this retirement community, my kids thought I seemed lonely, so they bought me a puppy. Of course, a puppy needs to get out into the world. Now we're taking walks every day and meeting people along the way. Yesterday, we met my friend Lucille down the street and she started to walk with us. Then we met a fellow who was walking his little poodle. Soon we were part of a parade of six human and canine walkers! I haven't felt this good in years!"
