Raymond's Story - I Learned to Cook at Age 70!

"For a while after my wife passed on, my kitchen was a quiet place. Tess always did the cooking. Right after she died, ladies from the church brought over casseroles. Then I was mostly on my own.

I must admit that my kitchen skills were never very fancy, although I could open up a can of soup. Often dinner was a piece of toast that I ate while standing at the kitchen sink. Mealtime wasn't very exciting. Sometimes it was just easier to hit the fast food joints.

I started to lose weight, and my doctor told me to get some cookbooks from the library. I followed his advice and I learned how to prepare good meals for one. I'm really cooking now, and I've only burned dinner once!"
