Postcards to PARC: Where We've Been
Here we include web postcards from fellow travelers. Reading them may inspire you to visit a place you've never thought of exploring before.
Richard: Marilee and I just got back from Glacier National Park in Montana. What a breathtaking place! The mountains there really are purple. We saw mountain goats on the mountainside just above a quiet little lake where we had lunch.Richard's tip: Take the trip of a lifetime. Relax and enjoy.
Libby: My sister Lucy and I spent a weekend in Washington, DC, this spring. We've always wanted to see the White House, the Capitol, and Arlington Cemetery. We saw all that and more. We could have stayed for a month and never run out of things to do.Libby's tip: Plan ahead. We got a very good price on a room and some of the museums were free. That fit our budget!
Cammie: I've lived in San Francisco all my life. I'm almost embarrassed to say I've never wandered into Chinatown before. My neighbor Linda came with me last week. We took off early in the morning and spent the day visiting the markets, eating, and looking at the beautiful silk fabric in the stores. I felt like we'd gone to Asia for the day.Cammie's tip: Sometimes the best getaways are right around the corner. Pick up the paper to find activities near you.
Maureen: I live in Buffalo, New York. Last spring I traveled just across the border of the United States to Toronto, Canada. I went to an international needlework festival there. I learned so much in one weekend. They had classes about quilt making, jewelry making, and even about how to knit small handbags. The festival runs every fall and spring, and I can't wait to go back!Maureen's tip: Are you wild about a hobby? I followed my interests and ended up having a nice getaway. So can you!
