You may be visiting somewhere new or going back to a place where you've been before. Either way, learn as much about where you're going ahead of time as you can.
Many libraries have travel videos and travel magazines. Books and web sites can also fill you in on the history and culture of the area that you will be seeing. If you will be traveling in the United States, travel agents and state tourism offices can provide you with brochures.
If you will be leaving the country, the consulate or tourist bureau of the country you are going to will most likely have maps and guides to key sites for you to explore.
